Why Businesses Choose Ready Set Rescue Training

Ready Set Rescue Training brings real-world fire service experience directly to your workplace. Our fire extinguisher training is taught by experienced Firefighter/Paramedics who understand how fires develop, how portable extinguishers are used, and, just as importantly, when employees should evacuate rather than attempt to fight a fire.

We focus on practical, hands-on training that goes beyond a video or classroom presentation. Employees learn fire extinguisher basics, fire classifications, incipient-stage fire hazards, proper extinguisher use, and the PASS method before putting those skills into practice with a training extinguisher.

Frequently Asked Questions - Fire Extinguisher Training

Does OSHA require fire extinguisher training?

OSHA 29 CFR 1910.157(g) requires employers who provide portable fire extinguishers for employee use to provide an educational program covering the general principles of fire extinguisher use and the hazards associated with incipient-stage firefighting. This education must be provided upon initial employment and at least annually thereafter.

Does fire extinguisher training require a live fire?

No. OSHA does not require employees to extinguish an actual live fire as part of the general employee education required under 29 CFR 1910.157(g). Our standard program combines instructor-led education with hands-on practice using a training extinguisher, allowing employees to learn and demonstrate the PASS method in a controlled environment.

What does the training cover?

Training covers fire classifications, portable fire extinguisher types and selection, extinguisher components and operation, incipient-stage fire hazards, when to use an extinguisher versus evacuate, and the PASS method — Pull, Aim, Squeeze, Sweep. Participants also receive hands-on practice operating a training extinguisher.

How long does fire extinguisher training take?

Most sessions take approximately 45–60 minutes, depending on group size and the amount of hands-on practice provided.

Do you provide training at our workplace?

Yes. Ready Set Rescue specializes in on-site workplace training. Our instructors bring the training equipment directly to your facility and provide instruction at your location.

Do employees receive documentation of training?

Yes. Training documentation and certificates of completion can be provided for participating employees.

How often should employees receive fire extinguisher training?

Under OSHA 29 CFR 1910.157(g), required employee fire extinguisher education is provided upon initial employment and at least annually thereafter. Additional requirements apply when employees are specifically designated to use firefighting equipment as part of an emergency action plan.

Do you offer live-fire extinguisher training?

Yes. Live-fire extinguisher training is available as an optional enhanced training service for organizations seeking additional practical experience. Contact us for availability and pricing.

What group sizes can you accommodate?

We can provide fire extinguisher training for small teams or large organizations. Training can be divided into multiple sessions when necessary to accommodate larger groups while maintaining an effective hands-on training experience.
